Haiti Coordinator Maryse King recently visited with Sister Raymond, director of the Centre de Montfort, to learn more about the impact of Tek4Kids on the children who live there. Sister Raymond explained that before Tek4Kids came to Montfort, supplying water for the orphanage was a logistical nightmare, due to its location on a steep hillside. … Continue reading A Life-Saving Gift
Before Tek4Kids installed the water purification system, most families relied on rivers and pumps for their drinking water. Less than 8% of families in Haiti have access to clean drinking water and there are no sanitation programs to handle the sewage or trash in Haiti, which inevitably washes down into the waterways causing waterborne diseases such … Continue reading Clean Water Is a Stepping Stone to Success at St. John Bosco
Electricity is part of the infrastructure Tek4Kids provides in our partner schools. Reliable electricity is essential in order to provide a functioning water purification system. Providing the necessary infrastructure at Montfort School posed a challenge since is located quite a distance from our other partner schools and is difficult to reach due to steep, rough roads.
Electricity was installed in 2012 at Brother Paulin, clearing the way for Tek4Kids to install a water purification system for the students. Tek4Kids installed eight batteries to power the water system, which pumps 1000 gallons of city water each week through the cistern and increases the pressure used to push the water through the cistern.
In 2014, four distribution tanks, three treatment tanks and three water jug fill stations were installed at Montfort School and orphanage providing clean water for more than 189 students in grades one through six as well as three preschool grades. In 2015, drinking fountains were added for the students to use throughout the day as well making … Continue reading Water Purification System Installed at Montfort School

Water purification systems were installed in 2012 at St. Louis High School. Since then student health has improved. 90% of teachers reported that the students can concentrate better. Attendance has also increased at the school because of the purified water; students are missing less school due to water-borne diseases and illnesses.
St. Therese Montessori School was the first school Tek4Kids partnered with to provide clean water in 2011. The purified water serves more than 345 students from preschool through fifth grade. Tek4Kids has provided two treatment tanks and two distribution tanks for the school, as well as providing access to clean water in the kitchen and … Continue reading Clean Water Is Available at St. Therese Montessori School

Tek4Kids started building the pump house and the cistern for the water purification system in November of 2011. We employed the same design as the water purification system installed at St. Therese Montessori School by means of a chlorine generator that uses ordinary salt and electrolysis powered by a 12 volt battery. We also installed … Continue reading Construction at Brother Paulin School
Tek4Kids began building the pump house and the roof to the existing cistern with the help of our local construction crew in 2010. Piping was routed from the cistern into the pump house and through the water purification system. This system filters and chlorinates the impure water by means of a chlorine generator using ordinary … Continue reading The Water Purification System at St. Therese Montessori
