The Grand'Anse department sits on the southwestern tip of Haiti, separated from the capital Port-au-Prince by mountainous terrain and hours of difficult roads. This geographic isolation has meant that international aid and investment consistently bypass the region making our work here both more challenging and more essential. However that geographic isolation has also separated Jérémie from the worst of the civil unrest that has plagued Port-au-Prince in recent years.
Jérémie
The departmental capital and our primary base of operations. Home to St. Francis School of Technology and our nine partner schools.
Moron
A rural commune 40km from Jérémie. We operate a partner school and a solar-powered water system serving 500+ residents.
Dame Marie
A coastal community with a Tek4Kids partner school and ongoing teacher training program.
Why Jérémie?
Our founders chose Jérémie in 2006 specifically because so few organizations were working there. The region has historically received a fraction of the aid that flows into Port-au-Prince and the northern Artibonite region.
Hurricane Matthew (2016) and the 2021 earthquake further devastated the area, destroying schools, homes, and livelihoods. Our pre-existing relationships with local schools and communities meant we could respond quickly and our distributed infrastructure survived where centralized systems did not.
Reaching rural communities
Many of our partner schools are accessible only by motorcycle along unpaved mountain tracks. Our Haitian staff and local technicians navigate these routes regularly to maintain equipment and deliver training. We deliberately hire from within the communities we serve — reducing travel dependence and building lasting local expertise.
Come see it yourself
Volunteer trips run twice a year. See the region, meet the students, and understand what your support makes possible.
