This September, Tek4Kids will continue its efforts to provide a brighter future to students in Haiti by beginning its college-level program. Building on our experience and knowledge gained over the past several years, we will provide scholarships to students who exhibit strong motivation and academic achievement to enter the technical school. We plan to train these young adults in Information Technology fields such as computer programming and website design.
Unlike traditional economic sectors such as manufacturing, IT services do not require a reliable infrastructure for transporting goods or large amounts of electricity, both of which are unavailable in most of Haiti. In addition, we will begin reaching out to both international and domestic companies and train our students specifically to meet the needs of those firms who are interested in employing them.
We are excited about the possibilities our technical school will open for many students to seek a better life in Haiti!
